Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra: Someday We'll Find Us

On Friday 8 September, AD Pride, in collaboration with the LGBTI+ networks of bol.com and Delhaize, is organizing a visit to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (“RPhO”). The evening is all about diversity and inclusion within music. For example, Manoj Kamps, queer conductor-theatre maker, will be in front of the orchestra and pieces will be played that focus on a journey towards acknowledging your deepest desires – i.e. ‘finding’ yourself and each other.

Ahold Delhaize is a partner of the Academy, the talent development project of the RPhO. Each year, this program offers a group of young musicians the opportunity to further develop themselves. As BRGs, we are happy to give substance to this partnership by joining an evening that is all about love, diversity and inclusion.

Before the concert we will be welcomed by the RPhO at 19:30, where we will receive an introduction about the music that will be played. Afterwards, part of the foyer was set up for gathering together and having a drink. This way you can also meet colleagues who work for bol.com or Delhaize in an informal way.

Date: Friday, September 8
Time: 19:30 – 22:00
Location: De Doelen, Schouwburgplein 50, 3012 CL Rotterdam
Cost: Participation is free
Travel: on your own

Someday we'll find us - Björk, Debussy, Sondheim and Veldhuizen sing about one boundless desire - All Is Full Of Love

Symphonic music and indie pop, musical and cabaret, echoes of opera, renaissance music and genres for which there is no name yet: all this flows together in one great hymn to the lure of the unknown. Someday We'll Find Us is an evening that gives space to wonder. Without regard for boundaries and conventions, the program takes you as far as the imagination can reach.

Music from Debussy and Van Veldhuizen to Sondheim and Björk, three top soloists, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in top form and Manoj Kamps as conductor-theater maker: these are the ingredients of this irresistible cocktail. And that is only the part of the program that takes place in the Main Hall. The magic starts at the beginning of the evening, upon arrival. During the walk-in, master photographer Rik Versteeg (he took the photo at the top of this page) has a small exhibition and a mini-studio in the foyer, where concertgoers can have their portraits portrayed in an enchanting setting. And after the concert, the music continues in the same foyer with a set of intimate Sondheim songs. Come and continue to marvel.
